How long is the IELTS Speaking Test?

I have my speaking test for ielts scheduled on the 7th of november at 2:10. i would like to know how long it will take for my exam to get over. my other tests are on the 9th of nov.

The examiner may want to listen to some or all of it again after you leave the room and it would be needed if the candidate asks for a remark.

Do you think the questions in speaking section repeat over time? I am trying to speculate if I practice the previous IELTS questions, what are the chances of getting the same question?

Hi,

Probably not the exact same questions, but certainly similar kinds of questions and topics.

If you look at past questions in books or the internet you can see some similar things come up again.

But you can't assume if you practice you will be completely prepared for what you will be asked.

They always think of new things as well and as I said, old questions and topics can be asked in slightly different ways.

There are not certain questions that are asked more frequently than others.

There are different types of topics that come up and you should practice them, but there are many.

Can I Retake only the IELTS Speaking?

Am so downcast right now. Did my speaking test yesterday. And the examiner's questions were so boring and am sure I didn't do well at all. She was going on and on about computer programs and apps.

This is so unfair. For one to be able to say much on this, you must be conversant with information technology. Why me? Is it possible for someone to retake only one part of this test, like say..speaking?

Hi Ann,

Just because it was boring you may still have done ok. You are just being judged on your speaking.

You have to retake the whole test, you can't just take part of it.

Wait for your result - you may be surprised and find you did ok.

Speaking went badly

Thanks buddy. Let me just hang in there and wait. With the other three, am sure I did very well. It's only the speaking that is my worry. I thought, it was supposed to be a friendly conversation. The examiner was not anywhere near friendly and it also made me uncomfortable.

you are right, they are boring questions, but they are the standard questions.

You have to answer to the best of your ability to get the score you desire.

I have been working with a student and trust me the answers are just as boring once you have heard them over and over again.

Length of the Speaking Test

Hi,

I took a test yesterday 08/13/2016. I wondered about speaking.

One of my friends said if I have some conversation with examiner and use more time than usual like 30 mins, I will get 7. But if I were given regular time or short time, I cannot get 7.

Do you think it is possible? Because my friend took this test 20 times, I think she knows it.

Yesterday question is about change in my life to positive way and advertisements.

Hi Lee,

No that information is wrong.

The speaking test is a fixed time of 11-14 minutes. So it is impossible to go on for 30 minutes.

The length of time the test takes has no impact on the score.
