Some people think that the best way to reduce crime is to give longer prison sentences. Others, however, believe there are better alternative ways of reducing crime.

Discuss both views and give your opinion.

Day by day, the rate of crimes in the world is increasing rapidly and there are many ways both individuals and government should do to decrease the crimes in the society. The argument that the best method to decrease the number of crimes is a long time prison punishment or many other ways are better is a subject that is both supported and refuted by many. Analysing both sides of this argument will be analysed before a conclusion is given.

Firstly, some people think that the best method to decrease crimes by putting the criminals in the prisons for a long time. For example, when thieves know that penalty would be a long period sentences in the prisons, they may be afraid to do crimes in the community. Therefore, the criminals might stop doing crimes because of this hard punishment. Thus, this makes it clear why some people believe that give a long time prison punishments is the best to reduce crimes.

However, some people think that many other methods can be used to decrease the crimes. For instance, the capital punishment can be used to reduce the crimes highly because the criminals would fear from the dead penalty and they could stop doing crimes. In addition to, rehabilitation also can be used to rehabilitate criminals to make them good people in the society such as learn them job skills. From this it becomes quite evident that why some people believe that other ways instead of a long period prison are best.

In summary, both views of this argument are discussed. After analysing this subject, I agree that other methods such as capital punishment are better than a long period prison. Thus, it is predicted that drawbacks of a long time in the prison more than benefits.

Purpose of Prison Essay

What purpose should prisons serve: punishment or rehabilitation?

The main objective of prison is to imprison a guilty and give him punishment for the sake of justice. Whereas, some people believe in rehabilitation process, but I consider that the main objectives of prison are both to give punishment as well as to rehabilitate offenders and criminals, because it has some specific reasons.

The first reason is concerning punishment. In Islamic society if a person commits any ilk of crime, then there will be very hard rules of punishment for him for instance, if a person killed anyone, he would be executed at the square in front of a crowd. Second rule is for robbers, like if a man robbed anything then his hands would be cut as a punishment in front of assemblage, so that people should learn a lesson and be away from crimes. If these rules of punishment can decrease the ratio of crimes, so we will also implement it in our jails or in prisons.

The second reason is about rehabilitation process. Numerous western countries have banned the execution and working on rehabilitation process. They want to rehabilitate a life of an offender into its real position by different methods for instance, they teach the prisoners many ways to earn a living after any offence. Like this a criminal can feel relaxed and may remove his mental sickness. They also provide many facilities such as gym for physical fitness, playground for mental relaxation, to prisoners. One day, like wise, a prisoner will become a good citizen when he comes out of a prison.

Punishment as well as rehabilitation system may help us to diminish crime rate like Norway has done. She has implemented both the system and the jail administration treats their prisoners like humans. They provide them a good environment inside the prison to eradicate their mental illness. They also give them courage to become a better and helpful citizen of a society. As well as, the prison administration gives them a special therapy so that they should forget about their depressed life and should be well prepared concerning their next life.

Ultimately, I would hold that the prison is made to give punishment to a guilty in reference to Islamic rules and do justice but sometimes punishment does not work so at that moment we should develop a rehabilitation process. This process is also very helpful for the prisoners. They also get relaxation therapy in that period and they themselves will come to know about the importance of life. Almost all the western countries adopted a rehabilitation option rather than execution or punishment so that is why crime rate is very low there. This is the symbol of developed and educated countries that they treat a prisoner also as a human being like others.

Crime by all of its types is a dangerous problem which start expanding in some countries. A lot of governments trying to reduce its. Some people think that the best way to stop this problem is put criminals in the prison for longer period. Others, believe that there are more different solutions can effect better than first opinion. In this essay I am going to discuss these two opinions.

There are benefits for give longer prison sentences. Firstly, this judgment will be a strong deterrent for the criminal. Furthermore, it isolates the offender from society. Therefore will produce a safety society and free of crime. Moreover, when the prisoner spends long time in the prison that will help an opportunely service to rehabilitate him.

However, Some people believe that spending longer time in prison will mix the prisoner with other criminals, so his character will not improve and this thing increases the problem worse. One thing will solve that is Judgment on the prisoner's civil and social work service with an electronic bracelet around his foot to follow him. This solution has a lot of advantages. First of all, this thing will improve the behavior of offender. Another advantage is this thing will help prisoner to be more respectable with everybody. Therefore, prisoner can mix with society under government following.

In my opinion, Making the criminal acts of the civil and social service with an electronic device will create a safety society. This solution is very useful than other.

Finally, government should decided which ways are have more positive effects than other, for a society free of crimes and dangerous.
