IELTS for Immigration to Australia

IELTS Australia

I have planned for Immigration to Australia, recently I took IELTS test and my score was

L\R\W\S
6\5\6\6.5

but I need a band 7 in each. Is there any possibility of immigration with the available score?

It depends on how much score you have to qualify for immigration.
if it is 60 then 6.5/6 is enough.

Hi,

you need to score 60 points of you want to migrate to Australia.
But you need minimum of band 6 in all modules only if you have 60 points with all other criteria.

If you are short of 60 points then getting individual band 7 gives you another 10 points.

overall, with the above test result it highly unlikely to apply for EOI- Australia.

If you leave offshore Australia, you might want to increase your point with IELTS.

If that`s your case,you need to score 7 in each four units.Your performance is really good but IELTS is tricky at times.

Try to work on the area where you scored below 7 and refresh your memory with practice tests in the other units.

I don't think that will be a problem. You can give your results to who you like when you have them.

But let the centre know in case they need to change anything on your application.

I don't know much about the requirements of PR to Australia. A poster below has said you need a total of 60 points.

You would really be best to check with immigration themselves:

Offcial Australian Government Website

If it's quite complicated you may need to speak to an agent but that will cost you.

What I do know is that immigration to Australia is based on a points system. If you look at this link you'll see that a certain amount of points are awarded for English Language Skill depending on your score:

Points for IELTS score

For example, you will see that:

20 points are awarded for a band 8
10 points are awarded for a band 7
And 0 points for anything below that.

However, you will get awarded points in other areas such as if you have a job where there is a skills shortage.

So you'd really need to look at a number of factors to get enough points, not just your English.

HI THERE !

is it possible improving ielts point after first registration?

Actually I mean, if I can register with an agent or personally my documents and my age will be accepted for sub 40 years old, then improve my ielts score from 6 score to 7 score or from 7 score to 8 score?

The main issue is that my limitation is so tight and I must be in hurry about registration. I am 39 years old.

Generally no but it depends who is asking for it.

You will have two separate certificates. A university will want your scores from one specific certificate, not two.

Hi Bishal,

You need to check with the university or college that you are applying to. They decide what grades they require to allow you in, not immigration.

Immigration decide on the bands when people come to work.

You would take academic if you are going to study but general if you are planning to work there.

It's done on a points system so I think you really have to work out how many other points you have, and whether a 6.5 brings you up to the total you need. I'm not sure if there is a minimum requirement of 7 but I don't think it is quite as simple as that.

I think it can really depend on what exactly your husband is applying for so I would check with immigration in Australia.

I would guess 7 across the board is the minimum though as it shows a very good competence in speaking English.

I personally don't know anything about 189 visas so maybe someone else can help you.

But from a quick search I see it's for work. For work it is general training IELTS, not academic.

But I don't know what band you would need.
