Today was my ielts speaking test and i failed to attend the test, can i request IDP for another test date, if yes how can i request?

Hi Sam,

If you miss your IELTS speaking test then there is nothing you can do.

You will need to book another one (the whole test) and pay again unfortunately.

This is some information from an IELTS centre but I'm sure it will be the same everywhere. As you see if you are late (or not attending will be the same obviously) you lose your fee.

Proof of a medical emergency is the only way to get a refund.

What if I’m late for the test or can’t make it due to an emergency?

On the day of your test, registration is at 9am. Unfortunately, candidates who arrive late for registration will not be allowed to take the test and will lose their test fee.

If you cannot attend the test because of a medical emergency, you must provide us with a medical certificate (a letter from a GP, Hospital or a walk-in clinic) within five days of the missed test. The letter must clearly state the reason why you were unable to attend the IELTS test and must be appropriately dated.

Actually I have taken dates for ielts of 19th may 2016 from idp mumbai.

I checked my mail a day before my academics on 12th at that time and I didn't have any mail regarding my speaking exam test and I got busy with my academic exam held on 13th may.

I wasn't aware that I have my speaking test at 14th of may and today when I opened my id I saw mail regarding speaking test dates. Is there any way to reschedule my speaking test dates from IDP.

You mean that you missed your speaking test?

If you missed it then you have to sit and pay for the whole test again unless there were extenuating circumstances such as as serious illness and you can prove it.

If you have not sat it yet and you want to change you had better contact IDP to discuss it with them but you can't usually sit different parts of the test at different tests. They all have to be taken together.

Hello

I have booked 27th Aug as my IELTS exam date, which is tomorrow. I was preparing all my documents for tomorrow's test and while checking I realized that my speaking test was on 25th Aug and it's already been done.

How is that possible? If I booked my date as 27th. How can they schedule the Speaking test on an earlier date. I wasn't available on that day to take the test as it is.

In this case, can I get my speaking test rescheduled?

Some centres do have tests on Thursdays and Fridays. I'm not sure why you would have been given Thursday 25th if you specifically asked for Saturday 27th, but you should always check your correspondence about the test very carefully.

I would contact your test centre to find out what happened as only they will know.

I think for certain medical things you may be able to reschedule but it would have to be serious and you'd obviously need to provide the supporting evidence.

I would check with the centre that you booked the test.

hello sir i am having my ielts reading, writing and listening test on 19th nov 2016 but due to lack of any info from the idp team i havent been provided with any venue and timing schedules but since when i found that it has been only a few days left before my exam so i login to their site where i found that my speaking date has been done already thus i am so confused now that what i should do now and whether they would reshcedule my speaking date or not

No if you miss it that is it. Call your centre to discuss it but I don't think there is anything you can do if it is your fault.

I don't know the exact procedures of where you are but they must have notified you somehow to let you know the date? Letter or email.

You should contact your centre to discuss it. If there are some speaking tests also on the 19th they may be able to change it back a day.

Missing the Tests

Hi,

To both of you who posted above (missing the speaking in one case and missing the other modules in the other), parts of the test can't be taken on different dates.

It has to be all part of the same test so you will have to take the whole test again and pay for it if you miss any modules.

For certain serious medical conditions that may have left you hospitalised you may be able to take the test again, but you would need proof of what happened and you'd need to then discuss that with the IELTS Centre.

If you have a medical note confirming the emergency then you may be able to re-book your test.

Discuss it with the centre where you booked the test.

Sir,
Due to natural Calamity and there was no power for 3 days to contact test center, also I cant able to travel to a particular city and wasn't able to attend IELTS Speaking Test. So I have an option to re-attend IELTS Speaking test?? and I'm about to give my L,R,W. So If I didnt attend my speaking, it means my whole test is considered as Absentee? And is there any possibility to reschedule or refund the amount?

If there was some kind of natural disaster then it's possible it could be rescheduled, but I'm sure it would really depend on if you can prove it and how serious it was.

I'd discuss it with the centre where you booked the test.

If you missed your IELTS Speaking Test unfortunately you will have to take the whole test again.

You can't take different modules across different dates and then combine them.

You need to speak to your centre and discuss it with them. It is their decision, but I assume they will say no (you could still attend and you will be given a score but you will get band 0 for your speaking).

Hi,

I want to know how soon do I find out about the speaking test date?

Is it possible to register tomorrow, for a week later test, and get a speaking test right after the registration on the same day i.e. tomorrow?

It's pretty absurd that the speaking test date cannot be rescheduled, or cannot be planned.

You should really contact your local test centre.

I don't think they can normally get you a test date that quick, but you should ask them to find out the earliest they can fit you in.

Unfortunately if you miss your speaking test you have to take the whole test again unless there are special circumstances, such as admission to hospital for an emergency and you have medical proof of this.

My speaking test was scheduled on 5th of may 2017 and written test on 6th. I had to renew my passport during the same week as its validity was getting over in 6 months(i had to apply for a visa). As the passport was under the renewal process. It had a canclled seal on it and i also carried an acknowledgement(from ppt issuing authority) stating that i have applied for a new passport and it was on it way. I was allowed to take the speaking test on 5th may, but i was not allowed on the 6th. I had same old passport on both days. What should i do?
