Can anyone recommend IELTS teachers?

Hi there

I need to achieve 7.5 in IELTS but I only got 6.5 on my first attempt and 7 on my second.

It seems that my weakest parts are speaking and writing...and as I think now that I've done my best and this is still not enough...I'm considering a private teacher.

Could you please recommend website or else to look for good IELTS teachers?

I studied with Neal through Skype and then in person when I traveled to Thailand. I could not get the 8s in Speaking and Writing. The highest bands were 7,5 time and again.

Did not study Reading and Listening as I got 8,5 and 9 for that several times.

Neal helped me to improve my scores for Writing and Speaking and I got 8s for these sections and 8,5s for Reading and Listening on my next and last attempt!

He also teaches other exam formats, like PTE Academic, but I don't recommend it since PTE is much harder than IELTS despite all the rumours about it.

Indeed, teachers are allowed to make mistakes sometimes. As professionals, it's great to give and receive 'constructive criticism', not simply criticism.

Also, that's why I love helping students in an authentic way. I let my students know that any of us can make mistakes. That in itself does not mean we are failures.

Constructive criticism is always best, again, not simply criticism. It helps us to overcome obstacles in our learning and practice. It also empowers us to humbly continue, with more confidence, along the path of success - not letting criticism hinder us.

I think you need a native speaker for IELTS. For example, I want to learn French, I want a Frenchman/woman! I want German... etc.

I had an Indian (no disrespect) who helped me for IELTS, but after a few lessons I realised that I was wasting my money and time. My Indian teacher was very good, but could not explain the nuances of the English language. He could not explain 'infamous'! He said it was "not famous". WRONG!!

So, my advice is.... use a native speaker!!!!

I and a friend of mine wrote IELTS two times and got only a score of 6.5. We went to a teacher and consulted our problem. He told us that we have to improve the handwriting. He has some handwriting improvement programs which he gave us. The result was that we could improve the handwriting and we avoided cancellation in the script. I got 7.5 and my friend got 7. Andrew is one of these 'scam' teachers.

Still no reply to my emails, and still refuses to answer phone calls regarding the money he owes me. He demands money in advance and then doesn't turn up for lessons, on more than one occasion cancelling literally minutes before being due to start, after having begged for the money in advance the day before.

There are plenty of good tutors out there - Andrew isn't one of them. Avoid him like the plague.

Hi,

I saw Andrew Honey was recommended here, and just thought I'd give people a heads up as I recently had some lessons with him.

As for my experience with him, I can only warn anyone reading this to avoid him at all costs. Not only did he cancel lessons just moments before they were due to start, but also he never refunded the money he owed me for cancelled lessons, and just stopped replying to emails, phone calls etc.

Hey everyone, I know you're all looking for a good tutor, well I have been taught by a lovely tutor from UK and she enabled me to get an excellent score on IELTS(8) when I thought I was gonna get much worse.

We are all investing sooo much money! to get places in foreign universities, with English as their first Language. So I thought, why not spend it on a good tutor online? who is also native! lol

She only does speaking preparations and just informed me to recommend, so just doing you and her a favour :)

Hi,

I needed to achieve a 7.5 to study Law in England this year so I was very stressed and didn't believe I could make it.
An older friend of mine recommended the teacher that helped me. I arrived in the UK two weeks ago and still talk to her via email.
She does lessons in her office but also via skype since she is in Greece. I was happy with the results and now my sister is having lessons too.
